B-1 Business Visa (B-1 Visa Application/B-1 Extension of Stay)
This guide describes the process of obtaining a B-1 Business visa and extending your stay on a B-1 visa in the United States. A B-1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa for individuals who wish to come to the U.S. temporarily for a business trip. The purpose of the business trip may include: making investments, negotiating a contract, buying goods, attending seminars, trade shows, meetings with business partners, suppliers or customers, educational or scientific conventions, settling an estate, resolving any litigation issues, soliciting sales or any other temporary work in the U.S. An employer for whom a B-1 visa applicant is performing work in the U.S. must be located outside the U.S. as well as the source of payment for the job performed. A B-1 visitor is not allowed to work for a U.S. employer in the United States.
